Two historic houses combined into one suffered from awkward and inefficient spaces; C2 redesigned the interior for improved functionality.

Two 19th century brick rowhomes on Camac Street were combined into one in the 1960s. After living in the house for a while, the owners knew they wanted to preserve its character while fully updating it for improved efficiency.

C2 reimagined the interiors to open and connect small rooms that were compromised by numerous structural and partition walls, to integrate storage in a house that lacked closet space, and to accommodate the owner’s eclectic style.

The project offered an opportunity to explore and incorporate colorful materials such as blue and white cement tile juxtaposed with a bright yellow range in the kitchen.

Custom millwork such as the plywood kitchen and bedroom built-ins provide ample storage in lieu of closets. The renovated house now has better connectivity between rooms while capturing the owners’ distinct sense of style.
